Olympic Handball Ireland (OHI) has published its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year of significant progress across participation, infrastructure, governance, and international engagement.

The report outlines major developments both on and off the court, reflecting a shared commitment to growing the sport nationwide and building stronger pathways from grassroots to elite level.

Highlights from the 2025 report include:

  • Record school participation: Over 6,000 children from 150+ schools took part, with team numbers doubling in secondary schools.

  • International representation: Castleknock Community College competed at the Partille Cup; Celtic Legends returned to the Masters Handball World Cup.

  • Beach Handball facility launched: Ireland’s first dedicated sand court opened at Sport Ireland Campus, enabling year-round activity.

  • Stronger digital growth: Instagram reach more than doubled; LinkedIn saw a 58% rise in followers.

  • Women in Sport impact: New referee training, festivals, and leadership initiatives supported female engagement.

  • Governance progress: Continued advancement on Sport Ireland’s Governance Code with board expansion and stronger compliance.

  • New research partnerships: OHI secured its first Sport Ireland Research Grant and presented at international conferences.

The report also details developments in domestic competitions, club growth, coach education, and partnerships with Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs).
